Clinical Pilates is patient-specific, unlike the regular Pilates class where participants perform the same general program. This means that in a Clinical Pilates class, each patient will receive an exercise programme that is specifically catered for their physical needs and injury. These classes will also be run by a qualified health professional with extensive knowledge of various injuries, allowing suitable, safe exercises to be prescribed accordingly.

Yes, Clinical Pilates is a safe and effective way to exercise whilst pregnant. Recent studies have shown positive effects on the baby’s brain growth and developments as a result of regular exercise throughout the pre-natal period. It also helps prepare mums for labour and childbirth, which can allow for better coping of the emotional ups and downs that many experiences during pregnancy. Exercises completed on the back will be limited after the first trimester. Instead, side-lying, seated or standing exercises are opted. Clinical Pilates allows you to continue exercising throughout your pregnancy by avoiding exercises that would risk or cause harm to you or your baby.
